WORKS IN PROGRESS

Book two of the The Story Keepers is underway. Alongside it, a standalone novel, The Grudgery, is taking shape.

THE STORY KEEPERS

Here stands the gate where the quiet of ink stirs into life; step softly, for stories awake to those who enter here.

A grounded, bookish fantasy where

stories hold power.

 40 Chapters   | 90,474 Words

The Story Keepers is a bibliophilic fantasy novel about hidden libraries, dangerous knowledge, and the people sworn to protect stories from being altered, stolen, or erased. When the boundary between preservation and control begins to fracture, loyalty, memory, and truth are tested in ways that cannot be undone.

Architékton (Architects)

“They were regarded with equal parts awe and apprehension, as well they should be; for theirs was the talent of being able to create a tangible, living something out of nothingness.”

– The Story Keepers

Neteru

An ancient council of Librarians safeguards the link between the Stories and the modern world.

While all bound to the Library are part of the Neteru, some are direct descendants of the original Librarians, carrying the responsibility as the Prōtotokia Neteru — the Birthright Neter.

One of direct heritage has always, and will always, stand at the helm of each Circulation Desk.

– The Story Keepers

Librarians

The Library houses living books, each one a world unto itself.

The Librarians are charged with tracking the storylines, ensuring that these storyworlds remain precisely as they were written.

Every twist, every turn, every character’s choice must be accounted for and preserved.

Guardians

the Guardians ensure that those storyworlds and our world remain separate. They are protectors, enforcers, and watchers at the gate.

They stand vigilant at the borders of the Library and beyond, prepared to intervene when the natural order is threatened.

WHAT’S COMING UP

In 2026, my focus is on finishing book two of The Story Keepers, deepening the world beyond the first volume, and shaping a standalone project that has been waiting its turn. Also, I’m reading. Always reading. All the things, all the time.

ABOUT KATIE

Katie is a lover of words. If there is an emotion that could extend beyond that, regarding words, she is that. Whatever that is.

Good words (and good books) have shaped her world and continue to fuel her imagination. She believes literature and magic are one and the same, and that there is no lesson worth learning nor character worth discovering that hasn’t first lived within the pages of a well-plotted tale. (That is to say, people are equal parts delightful and dastardly, both in life and in literature.)

By day, she co-owns a boutique marketing agency, where she helps businesses find their voice through branding, web design, and copywriting.

She earned an MFA in creative writing and is pursuing a doctorate in history, blending research and story in ways that feel surprisingly cohesive.

Originally from Utah, Katie and her family have made a home in rural Kentucky, where life is often slowed down by tractors on the road or the occasional rogue farm animal.

It’s humid and green and lovely and she adores every minute.

Her world is anchored by her hero of a husband and her beautiful daughters, who have recently stepped into adulthood—leaving her with more time and tenuous emotions, which do seem to transfer well to storytelling.

Outside of work and writing, she is happiest with a good book in hand, a Dr Pepper within reach, and a John Wayne film or British crime series playing in the background.

The most exciting book I’ve ever read, and I’ve read a lot of books. I just love it.
